A few weeks ago I got that call!! Baby Alexander was born two weeks early, it's time for newborn pictures! I was soooo excited! Not only did I get to meet the little one who was inside the belly when I did maternity photos for his momma, but I also got to use more of my new baby boy props! Wahoo! So, naturally I packed my on the go studio (that hardly fits in my car anymore) double checked my camera for cards and batteries and was on my way with an abundance of ideas in mind.
That's kind of my thing. Every time I am on my way to a shoot I play the appropriate music to get my mind, body and soul energized to it's full creative potential...In this case it was the stylings of Jay-Z's Ball So Hard...Don't ask that is just what I was feeling that day...LOL
Anyway, I arrived, set up and went to work. Well kind of. Wether it was the time of day, the mood, my luck, or what have you it just did not end up being the day that this would come together. One thing I like everyone to know is that newborn photography is hard. You have to have patience and you have to expect the unexpected. We like to think that babies are sleepy and calm in the beginning, which for the most part they are, but we all have our days. As a mom of two I fully understand! Every now and then a photo shoot just doesn't come together the way you anticipate. It is normal, it happens, and if you are a new photographer reading this, it will happen to you. If you are a seasoned photographer reading this, you know exactly what I am talking about.
On the plus side working with the Hester's is pure joy. They are so understanding and patient. I felt bad leaving knowing I had nothing to work with. Sweet baby Alex was just not in the mood to for his day in the spotlight. Hey, I don't blame him, he just wanted to sleep and we just wanted to keep getting him naked and move him around.
Anyway, as I was packing up I was already scheduling my return at no charge to come back in two days to get the job done right! Somehow the moons and stars all aligned and baby Alex was more then ready, he was working it!! I got more than I anticipated. I was so thrilled to get to do everything we had in mind and use all the props we wanted. I had a blast with this shoot and loved every minute of editing. I left that day feeling successful, happy, and most of all confident that I captured a beautiful and precious moment that will last forever for the Hester family.
Thank you so so much for letting me into your home with all my stuff not once but twice! You two are a beautiful couple and look forward to more little ones in the future! ;)

Baby Eli
I recently had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful baby boy and his darling big sister Elizabeth. I had so much fun doing this shoot because this little paring reminded me of my two, so needles to say I felt right at home. Eli's mom and dad were awesome too! Newborn shoots can be very tricky and taxing on a family with a new baby. I am sure that most are wide eyed when they see come tromping up to their door with piles of props. It usually takes me a few trips to get it all in their house. Sure a studio would be easier but I love being able to to do my craft in the comfort of my client's home. As I was saying, newborn photography is not a cake walk. It takes a lot of patience for both myself and mom and dad. Mom and dad in this case were champs! Little Eli did so great! I was able to get a ton of beautiful photographs and Elizabeth was a doll! Mom and I even took one for the team...It's okay Eli it all washed out ;) Thank you all for letting me into your home and photograph this sweet time in your lives.

Round Number Two!
How cool it is to be photographing Dani for her second time being preggers! Dani and I go way back. Back to the days of soccer team parties, high school fun and things we don't speak of...LOL Just kidding there is nothing to keep a secret we were perfect angels in high school! Anyway, I would just like to say thank you to Dani for letting me be such a huge part of her life. It has been so cool photographing her blossoming belly, her sweet baby Kinley growing and her new bump! I can't wait to meet baby C....Not quite sure on the name yet but either one you choose will be great :) And I just know Kinley is going to be a great big sister!

Beautiful Belly
I had so much this weekend meeting The Hester's and photographing Erica's beautiful belly! They have such a beautiful home so it was a treat to photograph her session in the comfort of her own home. I might have given her a small workout going up and down those stairs but she was a trooper! Her hubby was so great being so involved and helpful. I am so looking forward to meeting their sweet baby Alex very soon!

Oooh La La
Don't get me wrong! I love shooting babies, bellies, families and the like but when the opportunity arises to take on a new avenue, I am all over it! I have been asked before to shoot boudior for people but I was always a little intimidated and declined their offers. Boudoir photography is defiantly on the rise. I caught out some inspiration and decided to offer just a few spots to willing ladies to help me practice and build my portfolio and confidence shooting this style. I have done two beauties so far and will be shooting my third in the next month. Soon I will be creating a special boudoir package to offer to all ladies! I can't tell you how awesome it feels when these gals tell me they never knew they could look like that or could feel so sexy. It feels good to be able to capture such a beautiful and confident moment in a woman's life that will last forever! Ok enough yap yap and more show show :)
