The Best Kind of Christmas Present is A Christmas Baby

No really, it is a Christmas baby! I have had the pleasure of photographing the Christmas family since their little girl was 1! Now she's well over 2 and has a baby brother on the way! I can't wait to meet this little fella!

The original plan was to take these maternity photos in Lee Canyon (where I did my mini shoots) But of course as the "Callihan Curse" would have it, I got dealt another windy weekend! I decided last minute to change our location to the beautiful Corn Creek. It was still breezy but not as cold, and to make things easier Trisha styled their hair to look perfect in the wind. (Thank You!) LOL

Maternity shoots are not the easiest thing for a momma in her last month but I must say, Trisha was a champ about moving positions, sitting down, standing up, take this is off and put this there. I was hoping the baby wasn't going to decide to come out that day from all the work we did! (Stay put little man until I get back from vacation!!!)

After about 1.5 hours we decided we had what we needed and momma needed to get home to rest. I was excited to get home and edit these glorious photos! I pulled an all nighter because I could not stop! It's like a good book that you just can't put down. My favorite part about finished galleries is actually watching it with the music. I must say that I literally teared up from watching this gallery. Seeing little Gia with her mom so sweetly melts my heart.

And so I will leave you with some of my favorites that Trisha was proud to share. (You are one beautiful and glowing mom!)

The first of my minis!

Every time I create a mini shoot I like to test it out on my favorite clients. My beautiful girls :) Of course  in model diva fashion, they throw fits, are demanding, stubborn and hard to work with but when it all comes together it somehow works out! :) I also had the pleasure of bringing along a friend of mine to help me lug all these props to my location. She brought along her two boys to photograph as well. Four toddlers, two cameras, two mommas, and two photographers...We got this right? HA! Kids seem to have this understanding with each other. "When mom decides to take cute pictures and go through a lot of stress to get us all here, we will not cooperate...deal? Deal!" However kids, we are smarter than we look. All it takes is some silliness and we will get the job done! IN YOUR FACE! lol

All in all it turned out great and whenever things go great for me that usually means something unfortunate is going to happy. In tradition, I attended a photography meeting the next day and found out that the location that I was doing my mini's at is cracking down on photographers and you need permits and proof of insurance. SO FRUSTRATING! For the type and style of photography that I love, spaces are becoming very far and few. I can still get away with it if I am discrete about it, but when hauling props I am an open target. So with that said, I had to move my location. Oh well. I know it will still turn out great but it is frustrating when you have a vision and can't see it through.

Ok enough ranting and more picture sharing!

The Roa Family

This shoot was packed full of ideas! Our goal was to get family shots, birthday shots, and three outfit changes! In the wind, with a toddler, and hot hot weather we did it!! This could have never been accomplished with out such patient parents! You guys did amazing :) Happy 2nd Birthday little miss Laylah!

I am such a sucker for sun flare :)

The Marchese Family!

You know what I love about the rain in Las Vegas? Is that it transforms the dry, drab, lifeless plants and colors into something beautiful! I was worried the rain would ruin my our family shoot; instead our surroundings came alive with such saturated colors and even made the temperature come down about 10 degrees. All in all it was a perfect day! Today I had the pleasure of shooting an old friend from High school that I played soccer with and track with. She brought the whole family and I got to meet her handsome son! He was full of smiles and was so fun to work with. Toddlers can be tricky but this little guy was all about getting his picture taken today! Thank you Marchese family for letting me photograph your beautiful family.

I love this sweet photo of Gramma and her grandbaby :)
