A few weeks ago I got that call!! Baby Alexander was born two weeks early, it's time for newborn pictures! I was soooo excited! Not only did I get to meet the little one who was inside the belly when I did maternity photos for his momma, but I also got to use more of my new baby boy props! Wahoo! So, naturally I packed my on the go studio (that hardly fits in my car anymore) double checked my camera for cards and batteries and was on my way with an abundance of ideas in mind.
That's kind of my thing. Every time I am on my way to a shoot I play the appropriate music to get my mind, body and soul energized to it's full creative potential...In this case it was the stylings of Jay-Z's Ball So Hard...Don't ask that is just what I was feeling that day...LOL
Anyway, I arrived, set up and went to work. Well kind of. Wether it was the time of day, the mood, my luck, or what have you it just did not end up being the day that this would come together. One thing I like everyone to know is that newborn photography is hard. You have to have patience and you have to expect the unexpected. We like to think that babies are sleepy and calm in the beginning, which for the most part they are, but we all have our days. As a mom of two I fully understand! Every now and then a photo shoot just doesn't come together the way you anticipate. It is normal, it happens, and if you are a new photographer reading this, it will happen to you. If you are a seasoned photographer reading this, you know exactly what I am talking about.
On the plus side working with the Hester's is pure joy. They are so understanding and patient. I felt bad leaving knowing I had nothing to work with. Sweet baby Alex was just not in the mood to for his day in the spotlight. Hey, I don't blame him, he just wanted to sleep and we just wanted to keep getting him naked and move him around.
Anyway, as I was packing up I was already scheduling my return at no charge to come back in two days to get the job done right! Somehow the moons and stars all aligned and baby Alex was more then ready, he was working it!! I got more than I anticipated. I was so thrilled to get to do everything we had in mind and use all the props we wanted. I had a blast with this shoot and loved every minute of editing. I left that day feeling successful, happy, and most of all confident that I captured a beautiful and precious moment that will last forever for the Hester family.
Thank you so so much for letting me into your home with all my stuff not once but twice! You two are a beautiful couple and look forward to more little ones in the future! ;)
